Vintage Mexican Ceramic Pottery Folk Art Castillo Family. Artes Folklorico presents a wonderful vintage Mexican ceramic pottery sculpture by the celebrated Castillo family of Izucar de Matamoros, Puebla, Mexico. The piece features three stacked acrobats who sit on the back of a powerful bull. The artwork may represent a celebration of the circus that occasionally traveled to Izucar de Matamoros. The painting is very characteristic of the Castillo family. We date the piece to circa 1960s which may have been an early piece made by Alphonso Castillo Orta. The sculpture measures 12-1/4 inches in height, 9-3/4 inches in length and 4-inches in width. The piece is in very good vintage condition with no breaks, cracks or chips. There is, however, fading throughout which creates a beautiful folk-art patina (see photographs).
